President Jennifer Bates Message

Hello fellow club members and friends,

October is when we focus on ending polio in the world. Only three countries still suffer with it: Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria.

Volunteers are on the ground throughout the world to make sure this effort is completed.

Our donation to Rotary International toward this goal will be raised from our dinner at Longhorn in San Patricio Plaza on Thursday, October 27.

Show up with some friends any time between 5 and 10pm, and 25% of your check will be sent toward endpolio.org. This coupon must be included in each check.

See you there!

Jennifer

New Book by Dr. Johnny Rullan

All San Juan Rotarians Invited to Presentation of New Book by Dr. Johnny Rullan.
LAST WEEK

Guest speaker and fellow Rotarian, Dr. Johnny Rullan, has been a club member since 1999 and served as President in 2008-09.  A graduate of Robinson School with degrees from Northwestern and UPR Medical School and a Masters in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University , our speaker's specialty is Epidemiology and he has applied his knowledge all over the world.
His topic at our meeting was the Zika Epidemic in Puerto Rico today. Using a concise visual presentation, Dr. Rullan questioned the complacency of officials in the face of what could have a devastating affect on a generation of babies born on the island.
There was a full page article  Thursday, October 20   in El Nuevo Dia, bringing Johnny's message  to the general public.
Thanks again to Sherman Wildman for another most timely and important awareness program .
