Barry Rassin
Of the Rotary Club of East Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas, is the selection of the Nominating Committee for President of Rotary International for 2018-19. He will be declared the president-elect on 1 September if no challenging candidates have been suggested.
As president, Rassin aims to strengthen our public image and our use of digital tools to maximize Rotary’s reach.
The next meeting will be held on August 15 in the AFDA CLUB.

This year our club set aside $10,000 to be donated to at least four worthy service projects in Puerto Rico. The board received nineteen potential project candidates, and this week announced that seven projects would be funded. .I would like to thank everyone who participated in this process. Also, we encourage you to provide individual funding to support those projects not chosen. To do so, simply tell Pat to debit your Rotary account for the benefit the project of your choice.

PAST PRESIDENT, Juanita Morris, visited the Pittsburgh Rotary Club, who sponsored San Juan Rotary 100 years ago. She invited the Club to our Centennial Celebration next year. Both the Pittsburgh Club president and their District Governor Elect will try to come to our event.
Guest speaker, Civil Engineer Enriquillo Romero's, topic was about the RENACER Project starting up in Puerto Rico. The project will be combining research and development, housing and preparatory teaching on new technology on harvesting using aquaponics and hydroponics to start a profitable business.
With degrees from Purdue and Indiana U, and with global experience in inter-disciplinary projects, our speaker recently came here from Venezuela to work on various projects including energy alternatives and drinking water options, among others. Toa Baja is the area for the Pilot Project which is expected to grow exponentially in three years to affect 6600 persons.
