President Kenneth McGrath Message
This week our members voted on 19 very worthy community projects that the club will consider funding with your support.  Our club has set aside $10,000 from the monies that we raised this past year through fundraisers held specifically for this initiative.  Since the club itself cannot meet all of the funding requirements of the many worthy projects, I encourage you to feel free to donate to those projects which are not chosen to receive funding from the club.  There were more than double the amount of projects to seek funding this year compared to last year, and I thank you for your continued generosity.

LAST WEEK

Despite the short notice due to a last-minute cancellation, Speaker Dr. Abrahim Perez gave a comprehensive report on the complicated and highly politicized federal medical plan currently in the spotlight.  Health and Politics was the title of his talk.  Medical care has become a political football depending on the ideology of politicians.  Dr. Perez sees the solution in placing it in the hands of experts who will do what is best for the patients.  Our speaker said that the present system is not collapsing as it has the support of many organizations. He is optimistic that the existing problems will be solved.
