HELLO AGAIN
Member picture

Our once a month get acquainted speaker was Past President (2009-10) Enrique Sigas, Esq.  Voluntary community service with the Lions and Exchange Clubs brought him to Rotary in 1983. A holder of five Paul Harris Awards, Enrique, reminisced about some of the programs San Juan Rotary has had over the years.  Among them was the visit of Astronaut John Armstrong, legendary Mayor of San Juan, Dona Fela Rincon, and RI President Ray Klinginsmith, Enrique urged members to stay actively involved in club committees as we approach our 100th anniversary.

LAST WEEK

USCG Captain Robert Warren, Sector San Juan Commander since July 2014, leads approximately 650 active duty, reserve and civilian men and women who conduct all Coast Guard missions in the Eastern Caribbean.  Protection of the marine environment, search and rescue, law enforcement, vessel security and drug interdiction are all part of the Guard’s duties.
An increase in the emphasis to combat smuggling in the Caribbean calls for maximum marine security.  Capt. Warren is a graduate of the Coast Guard Academy, U of Maryland and the Army War College.  Thanks to Rotarian Ralph Bixler for bringing us this most interesting speaker.
