Dear Rotarians, We had a great meeting this week with Joaquin B. Viso, our Citizen of the Year. He really represents our moto “Service above self.” An inspiration to all! On Tuesday we recognized Joaquin B. Viso with the Club’ s Distinguished Citizen 2024-25 Award. Please click on the link to read Maria de los Angeles’ introduction that was read by me since María was not able to attend. I added a few footnotes to the Introduction based on my long-term experiences with Joaquín going back to 1983 when he served as the Fondos Unidos (United Way) Campaign Chairman when I was President emphasizing that he is a proactive and effective board member. As mentioned by María de los Ángeles, Joaquín has monetarily supported our Thanksgiving Luncheon activity for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico, but this donation, and another example I gave, have been made with the request that his name and the amounts not be mentioned since he shuns personal recognition. Joaquin is not only an outstanding professional, civic leader and philanthropist, but as mentioned by María de los Ángeles, he is a great human being who has worked hard for the general welfare of Puerto Rico.
