On Tuesday we had our weekly meeting at the offices of la Fundación Stefano at San Patricio Plaza to meet the staff and hear its founder, Zorimar Betancourt, explain its history and mission, as well as its future that will include a 2.5 acre property in Cupey donated by a grateful family the Foundation helped.  John Regis provided pizza, sodas and dessert from one of two operations he has at the San Patricio food court - Reggio Pizza (the other is Hot Potato). Some visited la Tienda Joy selling books, clothes, furniture, etc. operated by El Hogar Buen Pastor, another recipient of the proceeds from the St. Patrick’s Celebration with a Cause event held at Ocean Lab at Libert Square in San Patricio Plaza.  Fundación Stefano primarily helps persons suffering trauma, violence, and serious grief; the examples of persons recently helped by Zorimar and her staff were very emotional and uplifting.  Unfortunately, John Regis was traveling outside Puerto Rico so my plan to also have him briefly explain his businesses will have to take place later, but we at least got a taste respecting one of them.  These member hosted activities provide us to get to know our members better and allow us to raise funds for our service projects.
