   Dear Rotarians,

On Tuesday we will have a presentation on the SHIELD plan which is a six-step, evidence-based lifestyle framework developed by Dr. Rudolph Tanzi, a professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School and co-director of the McCance Center for Brain Health at Massachusetts General hospital. Our speaker will be Jorge Gonzalez. You are welcome to bring guests to this presentation at AFDA club.

Yours in Rotary,

Juanita

Message from President (2025-2026)   FR Enid Marie Reyes

A Legacy of Compassion and Action

Our recent meeting was truly inspiring as we recognized Sila María Calderón as our Citizen of the Year. She shared powerful reflections on the reality of poverty in Puerto Rico—particularly recalling a defining moment during her time as Governor when she visited the community of Cantera. Witnessing firsthand the depth of need in a place often unseen by many left a lasting impression on her and became a catalyst for her continued commitment to addressing poverty with dignity, intention, and action.

She also spoke about the impactful work of the Centro para Puerto Rico de la Fundación Sila M. Calderón, where women are empowered through entrepreneurship and economic development programs. Through these initiatives, individuals who once had very limited resources have built successful businesses—some even becoming millionaires. Additionally, she highlighted a new facility dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence, offering legal assistance, counseling, and comprehensive support services to accompany women through their healing and justice journey. Her message was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when leadership is grounded in compassion and a deep commitment to community transformation.

Her legacy calls each of us to move beyond awareness into action—reminding us that meaningful change begins when we choose to serve with purpose, empathy, and unwavering commitment to our communities.

Enid
