Upcoming Rotary Club Events and Announcements

Dear Rotarians,

Upcoming Meeting and Guest Speaker

On Tuesday, our Rotary Club will gather at the AFDA Club for our regular meeting. We are pleased to announce that our guest speaker will be Lilly Garcia Catala, who will present on the topic "Mindful Living ... Mindful Death." This is a timely subject, especially relevant given recent events within our community. Over the past two months, several dear friends and neighbors have passed away, which has had a profound emotional impact on me. I believe this presentation will be meaningful to many of us, and I highly recommend attending.

Please feel free to invite your family and friends to join us for this important presentation. If you do plan to bring guests, kindly let us know in advance so we can make appropriate luncheon arrangements.

Save the Date: Women Making a Difference Award Ceremony

We also ask that you reserve the date for our upcoming award ceremony recognizing women who make a difference in our community. This special event will be a collaborative effort between AAUW and our Rotary Club, taking place on March 3, 2026, at noon. Please remember to save the date for this meaningful celebration.

Yours in Rotary,

Juanita

Club Conversation: Relevancy, Visibility, and Accessibility

Overview of January 27 Meeting

On January 27, our Rotary Club convened for a dynamic and thought-provoking meeting centered on three foundational pillars: relevancy, visibility, and accessibility. The conversation aimed to clarify our club’s identity and amplify our impact within the community.

Defining Our Club’s Identity and Impact

Members engaged in a dialogue about what we aspire to be known as a Rotary Club. The discussion emphasized the importance of increasing our influence by hosting purpose-driven speakers, particularly those addressing issues highly relevant to Puerto Rico’s emerging businesses and community leaders. In addition to speaker events and forums, we reaffirmed our dedication to hands-on service through causes that are deeply meaningful to our membership. These include support for Villa Mayo Schools, Juan Bosco School, Cortez Foundation, Pro Pass Project, Habitat for Humanity, and the annual Thanksgiving luncheon with the Boys & Girls Club. The possibility of expanding our service projects to include initiatives in the Dominican Republic was also explored.

Upcoming Signature Events

Looking forward, the club previewed two major upcoming events: the Women’s Awards in March, held in partnership with AAW, and the Citizen of the Year Award in April. These events will serve as important opportunities to celebrate leadership and service within our community.

Enhancing Relevancy and Visibility

Much of the conversation focused on strategies to bolster our relevancy and visibility. Members discussed ways to engage younger generations, strengthen our social media presence, and more effectively communicate the club’s achievements and ongoing work. Opportunities for increased visibility included participating in community events and creating additional touchpoints for Rotarians to connect and become involved in club activities.

Improving Accessibility Through Membership

Under the topic of accessibility, Rob (Robert) Bolt shared his intention to develop a proposal for a tiered membership model. This initiative aims to make Rotary more accessible and inclusive, meeting members and potential members where they are today.

Conclusion

The meeting was marked by a collaborative and forward-thinking spirit, grounded in practical action. The discussions and initiatives set the stage for an exciting and impactful year ahead for our club.
