San Juan Rotary – Meeting Recap (August 19, 2025)
Our first breakfast meeting at AFDA welcomed guests Yvonne and Héctor from the Manatí Chapter, and Dorma Lugo, teacher and Program Director of CEDDT.
Rotarian Rob Bolt shared about Centro Educativo de Design Thinking (CEDDT) and its partnership with Escuela Ramón Vila Mayo in Río Piedras. Their programs aim to “make school relevant” through three pillars:
· Design Thinking Labs – introducing students to DT basics
· Exploraciones – bringing in community voices to broaden opportunities
· Mentoría – peer groups facilitated by adult mentors
CEDDT also leads teacher training, educator fellowships, and student leadership programs. Key dates include Sept. 22 (Design Lab Week) and Oct. 6 (Exploraciones Week), with opportunities for Rotarians to volunteer, mentor, sponsor student experiences, or serve as guest speakers.
President Enid reminded members that as Rotarians we are People of Action and highlighted the potential for long-term partnership with CEDDT.
