President Jennifer Bates Message
Hello Rotarians and Friends!

We had a great time at the 4th Annual Chili and Sancocho Cook-Off this past Sunday.

Thanks to all who worked hard before, during and after the event, and to those who attended and enjoyed the beautiful day and the delicious food that the teams prepared. We had eight chili teams and six sancocho teams. Yum!

Special thanks to our very important sponsor ESJ Azul, who cooked up some of the best chili and helped make the day a spectacular success.

Please take a look at the photo video and mark your calendars for the 5th Annual Chili and Sancocho Cook-Off which will be held on February 25, 2018!

See you soon,

Jennifer

LAST WEEK

Our guest speaker, Attorney Ignacio Rivera, is a past member of our Club and has spoken before the membership many times over the years - and a long time friend of many in the audience.  A former CIA officer, who has written fictional books inspired by those international intrigue days, his business experience includes General Manager of General Electric in the good old 936 days.  He was also Executive VP of the original Pueblo Supermarket chain.
Ignacio now maintains a private law firm specializing in criminal and financial law and is located in his beloved Old San Juan.
His talk centered around the myriad ways people find to commit fraud.  Tax, insurance, and real estate fraud, to name a few.  It was interesting to learn that every month at least one doctor is charged with Medicare fraud.
