NEXT WEEK Fellow San Juan Rotarian, Roberto Valentin, Past District Governor and Past Vice President of Rotary International, will bring us up-do-date on the activities of The Rotary Foundation.
Luis Alvarez of Mendez & Co. treated us all to some fine Heineken beer (imported by his company) as he spoke about this year's Heineken Jazz Festival. The Festival began in 1991 and each year brings the universal sound of jazz played by noted musicians. Luis holds degrees from Notre Dame (Marketing) and the Berklee College of Music in Boston (Arranging and Composition). He served with the Air National Guard and is qualified on single and multi engine planes as well as Rotorcraft helicopters. Be sure not to miss this year's list of outstanding jazz performers.
The following candidate is being considered for membership in the Rotary Club of San Juan.
Jillian Lee Carmichael (Marketing: Gold Mining). Jillian is the Director of International Marketing for Cyanco International with headquarters in Houston, Texas. She is sponsored by Kenneth McGrath.
If no objections are received by the Secretary by March 16. 2015, the candidate will be approved for orientation. The final decision rests with the Board of Directors.
Committee Chair, Jennifer Bates, reported that the February 8th Cook Off raised $10,000+, thanks to the efforts of her committee and to all Rotarians who supported the community service activity.
