SJ Rotary Past President, Attorney Jorge R. Gonzalez', topic "AgroEco Tourism Project" revolved around a farm he and his wife are developing in Cayey. With 104 cuerdas, and about 45 minutes from San Juan, at 2600 feet high, it has a variety of agricultural and ornamental products, plus miles of nature trails and spectacular views. Referring to future goals, speaker Jorge envisions creating an educational tropical agricultural and nature experience for daily visitors and overnight guests as the farm is near the Panoramic Route. The farm is being developed with profound respect for the environment. Jorge mentioned the possibility of San Juan Rotary establishing a Satellite Club of Alturas de Cayey. Our speaker estimates that the farm will be ready for overnight visitors in two months. In the Q & A session, Board Secretary, Russell Patterson, mentioned his recent purchase of a farm. He is taking farming lessons on a weekly basis and thoroughly enjoys the experience of growing and sharing its fresh produce. A back to nature program and certainly refreshing! |
