Guest speaker, Charna Boquette, Chief Development Officer for the Vimenti School by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico gave a comprehensive overview of the school's mission to eradicate child poverty on the island. The first Vimenti campus was opened in 2018, within the Ramos Antonini Public Housing Project as the community at Ramos Antonini and its surrounding area, has the highest density population dealing with generational poverty in the San Juan metropolitan area. Vimenti's vision is to create an evidence-based model that provides support, skills and experience to our children and families to achieve economic security. With the belief that all children and families deserve the same development opportunities, regardless of their economic status, the Vimenti model enrolls the whole family with inclusive services providing case management, emotional intelligence support, and health and wellness complementary services. Introduced by our Past President, Jorge Gonzalez, Ms. Boquette shared her vast knowledge of this successful project and invited members and guests to join the caravan to visit the campus and school for a hands-on opportunity to see the children as they study in this excellent learning environment. |
