  Dear Rotarians,

We will meet on Tuesday at the AFDA Club, where Raymond Harwood of Corporate Source will speak on “Employing the Disabled.” As we approach the end of this Rotary year, we welcome suggestions for speakers for the 2026–2027 Rotary year. We also need volunteers for the registration table, audiovisual setup, and the invocation. Our District Governor-elect, Gerry Cumpiano, will represent the club at the Rotary International Convention in Taiwan. We wish him safe travels and look forward to hearing about his experience.

Yours in Rotary,

Juanita

ROTARIAN & PAST PRESIDENT, Delia Colorado, V.P.

Last week my husband Tito went to Washington to attend the US Hispanic Chambers of Commerce (USHCC) Legislative Summit, which included visits with Congressmen, including our own. When Tito returned home, he showed me a bag of coffee which he had purchased in the shop of the U. S. House of Representatives.  In the bag it was printed: "Congressional Reserve Blend, made exclusively for the United States House of Representatives, Arabica Coffee from the Mountains of Puerto Rico", and the name "Cafe Ama Love". Tito was wondering who it was that produced and sold that coffee to the House of Representatives.  Then last Tuesday, in our Rotary Zoom meeting, we had as a guest Angelique Sina who worked in Washington with the World Bank and is the President and founder of Friends of Puerto Rico and Metro Women's Business Center.  These organizations help women and children from 9 years up, showing them ethical values, helping them obtain scholarships, prepare business plans, and supporting small businesses. In Agrotourism they have the Panorama Farm in Las Marias where they cultivate a coffee which they sell as "Cafe Ama Love", Angelique told us. So, there was the answer to Tito's question: what organization was it that got access to the shop in the US House of Representatives to sell coffee from Puerto Rico.  And Angelique told us about the challenges they have to produce enough coffee to comply with the demand, since it has to be 100% Puerto Rican coffee, the one that has been known as the best in the world!  Thank you, Angelique, for such an interesting and enlightening chat.
