Guest speaker, KENNETH KAY, an entrepreneur, investor and adviser specializing in technology ventures, moved to Puerto Rico in 2015. He is the founder and chair of the Puerto Rico Capital Network (PRCN) which educates, mentors, and invests in local entrepreneurs whose members are among the most successful investors in Puerto Rico. Ken is also a mentor-in-residence at Parallel 18 which accelerates early stage companies from Latin America, Europe, USA, and Puerto Rico. With the title of his talk "Building an Innovation Ecosystem in Puerto Rico", our speaker mentioned some of the local challenges: business culture, government and out migration. A lesson in economics shows that monopolies charge higher prices & price control leads to nationalization of industries- all bad for the economy. Ken holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago and is Chairman Emeritus of Jumpstart NJ Angel Network, in collaboration with Princeton University. |
