The history of the specialty of Neurology in Puerto Rico was the subject of guest speaker, DR. JAIME INSERNI. Armed with a BA from Boston U, a PH.D. from UPR, and an MD from UPR, our speaker went on to further study at Yale U, and the National Hospital for Neurological Diseases in London, England. He has vast experience in academic appointments and a multitude of professional credentials. Dr. Inserni took some time out to serve as a Major in the US Army, seeing service in Dissert Storm. Our speaker gave credit to Dr. Nathan Rifkinson, who was his mentor (and a member of San Juan Rotary from 1950 to 2010, who rarely missed a meeting.) Rotarians enjoyed the journey of the establishment of such an important medical specialty.
