To help alleviate the damage done in our neighboring island, your Club raised $3,300 in pledges at last Tuesday's Zoom meeting. These funds will be handled by Rotary and will be sure to get to where they are most needed.
Guest speaker, Merri Beth Hallock, President Pro-Bono, of Caribbean 12 Step, Inc., established the organization in 2013. It is a Federal and local certified non-profit facility designed to provide social opportunities, activities and safe meeting facilities for individuals and their families recovering from addition. The facility team and members are available 16 hours a day, seven days a week. During COVID, their building was sold, and they had to seek a new location at 1060 Ponce de Leon in Miramar. Construction of nearly 6,000 square feet has begun. With the motto "People helping people become people who help people", Caribbean 12 Step has raised $150,000 of their fundraising goal of $250,000 with the help of individual, corporate, membership & special events contributions.
