Dear Rotarians:
What an spectacular presentation by Arq. Vanessa de Mari, President of the Puerto Rico Builders Association during this week's meeting. She explained to our members the concept of affordable housing, the needs in Puerto Rico and the challenges. Next week, another very interesting and important presentation by Attorney Laura Rozas on the coastal zones. Do not miss it.
Important dates to keep in mind:
Silent Auction will be at AFDA on September 8 from 6:00- 8:00PM. The Silent Auction site is up and running. Please follow the link and register. Please share the link with friends and family, network, etc. We have a goal of raising $5,000 and need all the support. The Board approved a charge of $25 per member for the fundraising. With that, in addition to contributing, you will enjoy appetizers and wine during the event. Please, come and join us for a great night.
We are looking for volunteers to work in the Youth Avenue. So please contact me if you are interested and:
Do you have experience with any youth organization? Such as Boy Scouts or the likes.
Did you receive youth services / youth protection training.

This year we are committed to increase our membership. We are asking every member to bring two guests to our meetings. Please think who you could bring snd invite them!
The Board of Directors and I are counting with all your support and commitment to achieve our goals and take our club into the future. We are still looking for volunteers to join our five committees. Please let me know which one you will like to join. If you have any concerns or issues, please bring them to my attention along with your ideas and recommendations.

Guest Speaker, Architect Vanessa de Mari, Development Manager in F&R Construction Group, Inc., design, management and consulting company in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, Topic was Reconstruction in Puerto Rico. A graduate of Washington University in St. Louis with two master’s and a role model for every construction professional, is President of the Puerto Rico Builder's Association.
De Mari focused on the need to push forward and implement the work necessary for affordable housing on the island. Securing Federal funds for community development, proposals of the PRBA that has been involved in this discussion since 1951, were some of the many topics she spoke on. There was a lot of Q&A from an obviously interested membership.
