Last Tuesday we held an informal meeting where we discussed some ideas of things, we should do to make our club a better one, offering our members more opportunities to enjoy their membership. One of the things we discussed was having a meeting where the members could talk about our ongoing projects and the status of each one, so that everybody is informed, and they can join the project if they like it. Another thing we could talk about is “what Rotary is and what it means to me”, so that we all get to know the details of all that entails being a Rotary. Membership was also a topic, the need to recruit new members, especially those that belong to Act 22 who will benefit from belonging to a group that speaks English. Also, we could invite friends to the luncheons so that they get to know the group and could become interested in helping or in becoming a member later on. We didn’t forget the social activities that we could plan for the year.

Despite the threat of a severe rainstorm, a hearty group of members turned out at the AFDA Club for a Social Meeting. President Antonio Colorado led the conversation by encouraging members to share their thoughts and suggestions to spread the word of Rotary with the idea of attracting new members. He also emphasized that his hope is for the present members to get more involved in the workings of their Club. We also heard from one of our newest members, Frank Selden, a retired lawyer, who grew up on a farm in Canada, and lives in Humacao, PR, where he is the Owner of 401K ROBS PROS, LLC. One of his interests is community business development, and Boating is a hobby. President Tito would like to see us get together with other Caribbean islands and share the Spirit of Rotary!
