DR. GRAYSON BROWN, Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Vector Control Unit and internationally recognized public health entomologist, gave a detailed review of the efforts being made to surveille and control mosquitoes, whose bite kills more people than any other insect.  One project is the sterilization of the male insect as it is the female that does the biting - and human being are their preferred victims.  In order to avoid a major disease outbreak of mosquito borne disease, Dr. Brown's work concentrates on research and implementation of vector management programs for municipalities and government agencies throughout the world.  His work includes Africa, South East Asia and South America. The surveillance system island-wide, includes over 1500 "mosquito traps".  Needless to say, his topic created a lively Q & A period.
