Visited San Juan Rotary on Tuesday. Pictured together with the youngsters are their parents and Houston Rotarians Vicki Brentin and Ed Petitt who came to Puerto Rico for a cultural/service visit. Each year the Carnegie HS Interact Club has an international festival to raise funds for its service work. They selected Puerto Rico to receive and made almost $14,000 available. San Juan Pubic Image/Global Grants Board Director Georganna Hildebrand, working with Vicki Brentin, submitted a grant proposal to The Rotary Foundation for $100,000 for CARAS, a local organization led by Michelle Fernandez Frey, to open the very first charter middle and high school in the Amelia/Catano region. The Interact students have also committed their funds to be directed to Puerto Rico/Caras.
Carnegie HS is a leading performing public HS that draws student for all over Houston.
