The Gala is a great way to bring in new members, recruit past members or just to have a great time with friends.  There will be a cocktail with music to start the evening.  This will be followed by a few remarks on the history of our club and accomplishments, and a great sit down dinner, with congratulatory remarks by RI President Barry Rassin.  The rest if the evening will be dancing to a 15-piece orchestra and great Rotary revelry.   Reservations for the Gala can be made by entering the Rotary Club of San Juan website ( ) and just click in the event.

Welcome New MEMBERS

Inducted into San Juan Rotary on Tuesday was AMAURY RIVERA (Classification: Community Leader), sponsored by Warwick Butler.

With the title of his talk, "The Oversight Board and our Economic Future, guest speaker, Jose Villamil, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Estudios Tecnicos, a private economics and planning consulting firm, addressed the Club.  The estimated financial damage caused by Hurricane Maria was a priority.  80% of housing was damaged, a large part caused by no regulatory compliance.    The whole world knows of our infrastructure (electric grid) disaster.  As to our public debt, Well, our politics have left us where we stand today.  The question is, "What type of society do we want for Puerto Rico?"  There are no easy answers and the Oversight Board's recommendations are being met with strong opposition.  Needless to say, Mr. Villamil’ s talk created plenty of questions from the audience.  You will find an in-depth report on Tuesday's program by accessing our webpage at:  Look on the Home Page for "Economic Prospects After Hurricane Maria."
