As is the case with many clubs we have experienced a net decrease in membership this year.
This is partially due to the COVID restrictions for In Person meetings and also many members left for the US. Although they could continue to meet with us using ZOOM some chose not to continue as members of our club, although, not necessarily Rotary.
Many times, I have heard people say that if each active member invited just one friend to join our club, we would immediately increase our membership by 100%.
In the real world, most things are more difficult than they seem in theory; none -the -less, would it not be wonderful if we put this theory to the test and it actually worked.
We are having an Open House meeting via ZOOM on Tuesday April 20 at our regular meeting time of 12:15PM for members and their guests.
I am asking every member to please, please come to the meeting and forward the link to a friend or family member. Let us show the world that for Rotarians the seemingly impossible is indeed possible.

2021 Virtual Rotary International Convention
Online Event
The Rotary International Convention, scheduled for 12-16 June 2021, in Taipei, Taiwan, will now be a virtual event in response to the ongoing threat of COVID-19.
We are sorry that we will not see you in Taipei this year, but this decision, made by the Rotary Board of Directors, is necessary to protect the health of everyone involved. We will share more details about the 2021 Rotary International Virtual Convention soon. Here’s what you need to know now:
Virtual Convention Registration
The Virtual Convention will be open to all Rotary members and participants. Event registration will open in mid-April and will include a promotional fee of $49 for 21 days, with an increase afterward to $65.
The Rotaract, Youth Exchange Officer and Inter-Country Committee pre-conventions will be held 10-11 June 2021. The cost of each preconvention event is $20. Both the convention and preconvention events include access to the House of Friendship. Please continue to check back for more details and updates.
Virtual House of Friendship
Our virtual House of Friendship is where convention attendees gather to learn about Rotary products and services, share project information, and shop.
Those interested in showcasing their product or service should email exhibitor@rotary.org for more information or to request an exhibit application.
Introduced by President Elect, ANTONIO COLORADO, Rotarians had the pleasure of meeting fellow-Rotarian, ENRIQUE ZAMORA, President of the Managua, Nicaragua Rotary Club. We learned that his District 4240 has 1,216 members, 39% of which are women. President Zamora, a Rotarian since 1994, has served at three different times as President of his club. At the present time, he is coordinating a $150 million fund under an initiative to transform the coffee sector in Central America and the Dominican Republic. It gives him positive thoughts to working with the coffee sector in Puerto Rico, well-known for its excellent coffee.
Our speaker told of the link Nicaraguans have with our Roberto Clemente, of Major League baseball fame. He is remembered every year and his country has a health clinic and a baseball stadium named in his honor. Mr. Zamora would like the opportunity to work with Puerto Rico and would welcome any suggestions. His email address is: enriquez@lafise.com.
