Hola!
If you were not in AFDA last night, you missed a great special event. Maria invited as a speaker Daven Michaels, New York Times best-selling author and global speaker who has lived in Puerto Rico for several years. He told us about many of his interesting life experiences, amongst them about the process of deciding how to market your book, be it through an established publisher or individually by you, or even as a hybrid. Since he has been here, he founded the San Juan Social Club which started with a few members and now is a big group with over one thousand members. One of their next activities will be a cruise next year and Daven says they really have a good time on those cruises.
Ray Erb talked about being a Rotary and Maria summarized all about the Rotary Foundation.
Rob Bolt invited the younger people to an activity with the idea of forming a Rotaract Club, which will be held on Friday September 22 at 4:30 pm at La Isla, 909 Fernandez Juncos Ave. San Juan.
May I remind you at this time of September 21 International Day of Peace, please try to dress in white and keep one minute of silence at noon.
Also, you are invited to an Intercitadina activity of Area I of our District 7000 to be held in Tinto y Blanco in Hato Rey on Saturday September 23, at 4:00 pm. There is no cost for the activity, you just pay for what you order. It will be a good opportunity to meet with members from the other clubs of the Metropolitan Area: Santurce, Rio Piedras, Guaynabo, Carolina-Canovanas and the E-Club.
Next Tuesday we are going to have Joel Sanders giving us tips and suggestions on how to market the idea of being a Rotarian, so that we can start thinking of increasing our membership. Please be sure to be there, we are going to have a good meeting.
Take care. Have a nice weekend.
